Pilates was developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. Pilates exercises teach awareness of the breath and the alignment of the spine, and strengthen the core muscles. Your core muscles are the abdomen, oblique’s, lower back, inner and outer thigh and your glutes. If you want to improve your posture and muscle tone, balance and joint mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension, Pilates is for you. It helps to develop body awareness, improving and changing the body's postural alignment habits plus increasing flexibility and ease of movement.
As well as promoting and healthy mental wellbeing, it can help maintain a healthy weight due to the muscle strengthening activity, leading to improved posture and muscle tone. Pilates has something to offer people of all ages and levels of ability and fitness, from beginners to elite athletes. It can help to manage, and in some cases alleviate chronic back pain, sciatic pain, other orthopaedic conditions and rehabilitation after hip or knee replacement. For women it can help to strengthen the body after childbirth.
Pam is a qualified Level 2 and 3 fitness instructor. She teaches Body Balance (Less Mills TM), Neuro Rehab, Orthopaedic Rehab, Functional Training, Pre & Postnatal Exercise and Core Stability. But her real passion lies in Pilates , where she is Level 3 qualified in Modern Pilates but also in Small Mat Equipment Pilates, Pre & Post Natal Pilates and Pilates for Orthopaedic Conditions. This is where she sees the biggest changes in people’s physical and mental wellbeing.
